Sembel, Godaif register wins in Eritrean Women’s Club tourney
Sembel FC and Godaif picked crucial wins at the Eritrean Women’s Club Championship entered Day 7 at the Asmara Stadium on February 8th, 2025.
In the first match in Group B (Category 2), Godaif FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zoba Anseba.
The decisive goal came in the 31st minute when Yorkabel Mengis confidently converted a penalty. Despite Anseba’s efforts to try and get a goal, Godaif held on to their advantage and claimed the three points.
It was Godaif’s seventh point after they kick started the campaign with a 3-1 win against Sembel, and settled for a goalless draw against Gash Barka.
The second match saw Sembel FC dominate Gash Barka to win 3-0. Rozina Bahlbe opened the scoring after two minutes to set the tone for Sembel’s dominance. Rim Fitsum doubled the lead in the 25th minute, while Omolkier Abdela sealed the victory with a goal in the 47th minute.
With these results, both Godaif and Sembel strengthened their positions in the tournament as the competition heads into its final stages.
Action continues on Monday with Zoba Debu facing Gejeret FC, while Edaga Hamus takes on Southern Red Sea.
