Women’s Football Development Program launched in Gash-Barka
The Eritrean National Football Federation (ENFF) has launched a Women’s Football Development Program in Meqerka, located in the Logo Anseba sub-zone of Gash-Barka.
It was inaugurated on Saturday in the presence of Abraham Hagos, the administrator of the sub-zone, officials from the ENFF, family members of the different players, and other dignitaries.
The initiative is set to run for two years, incorporating three training sessions per week under the guidance of different professional coaches.
The primary objective of the program is to foster the growth of women’s football in Eritrea by increasing the number of female players and teams participating in Football. It is also expected to strengthen the overall structure of women’s football and create more opportunities for young talents in the country.
During the launching event, Hagos emphasized the importance of investing in women’s sports and encouraged young girls to take part in the program. Officials from ENFF also expressed their commitment to providing the necessary support to ensure the program’s success.
Following its initiation in Meqerka, the program will also be expanded to other areas within the Anseba and Gash-Barka zones in the coming days. This expansion aims to create a broader impact, ensuring that more women across different regions benefit from structured training.
The Football body remains dedicated to promoting women’s football and believes that such initiatives will significantly contribute to the long-term progress of the sport in the country.
