Red Sea Camels kick start player selection process in Asmara ahead of AFCON 2027 group qualifiers

The technical team of the Red Sea Camels under Coach Hasham Yakan has embarked on player selection ahead of the group stage qualifiers of the AFCON 2027.

Paulos Weldehaimanot, President of the Eritrean National Football Federation (ENFF) says the selection process will help the technical bench to identify the best talent for the team.

After seeing of Eswatini in the preliminary round of the qualifiers Eritrea will now play in the group qualifiers in Group D alongside Kenya, South Africa and Guinea.

Eritrea has called up new players across all positions to be tested in Asmara. A total of 50 players from 17 countries have been selected.

For Eritrea, the Asmara camp marks more than routine preparation, it is part of a wider Football comeback after years away from regular continental competition.
