Eritrea appoint Hesham Yakan as new national team head coach

The Eritrean National Football Federation (ENFF) has appointed Egyptian Hesham Yakan as the new national team head coach.

Mulugeta Geberatinsae, the ENFF General Secretary made the announcement. “We have appointed Yakan on a 1-year contract.

The Egyptian has already kick started preparing the team ahead of the preliminary round of the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Eritrea who return to the qualifiers after a long while will face Eswatini over two legs March 25-31^st. The winner over two legs will qualify to join other teams in the group stage of the qualifiers.
