Robel Teklemichael joins Scotland’s League One side Peterhead FC

Scottish League One side Peterhead FC have signed Eritrean defensive midfielder Robel Teklemichael.

The midfielder joined Scottish League One side Peterhead FC. He signed a deal with the third-tier Scottish side last week after a brief stint with a Swedish lower-league side in the 2025/2026 season.

Teklemichael who captained Eritrea when they reached the final of the 2019 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Uganda started his career with Red Sea FC.

After his good show in the CECAFA Challenge Cup, Teklemichael quickly caught the attention of Ethiopian Premier League side Ethiopian Coffee.

However, because of injuries the midfielder left the Ethiopian side in 2024.

Peterhead co-manager Ryan Strachan said Teklemichael impressed during his trial at the club: “His energy, ability to cover grass, physical attributes and technical ability have caught the eye, and with the noise his performances have been making, it’s great for us to get him agreed so quickly. It’s a position we’re highly competitive in, and we look forward to seeing how Robel continues to develop and improve in our environment.”

Teklemichael will be hoping to get a chance to return to the Eritrean national team squad for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group qualifiers which kick off in September 2026.
