AFCON qualifiers
Eswatini stand in Eritrea’s way in TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers
Eritrea will face Eswatini in the preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 qualifiers.
The draw conducted was conducted on January 13th by the technical arm of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Rabat, Morocco.
Twelve lowly ranked teams in Africa as per the FIFA rankings were drawn including Eritrea.
According to the draw Eritrea will host Eswatini in the first leg between March 21-25th, 2026 in a yet to be announced venue. Eritrea missed the qualifiers if the AFCON 2025 and FIFA World Cup 2026.
Te other teams from the CECAFA Zone Djibouti will face-off South Sudan in another qualifier, while Ethiopia take on Sao Tome & Principe. Burundi will face Chad, and Somalia battle Mauritius
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will host the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027.
The six winners of the preliminary round ties over two legs will advance to join the other 42 CAF Member Associations in the group stage of the qualifiers.
