CECAFA President Andemariam graces regional U-17 Women’s Championship in Tanzania
The regional CECAFA U-17 Women’s Championship that attracted eight teams concluded on June 23rd, 2026 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
President of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), Paulos Weldehaimanot Andemariam graced the tournament which started on June 13th.
“I am happy that we had a very successful tournament which attracted eight teams. I have been able to watch several matches,” said the CECAFA President.
Uganda Teen Cranes edged hosts Tanzania 3-0 in the final played at the KMC Stadium.
Justine Ayerango, Brenda Nasaaka and Flavia Yagala scored for the Ugandan team that retained the title they won in 2023.
Kenya also defeated defeated South Sudan 7-0 in the play-off match to finish third and collected the bronze medals.
The Awards ceremony was also attended by CECAFA Exco Member Doris Petra and Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) President and CAF Executive Member Wallace Karia.
